The summer of 2010 is nearing it’s end. And I finally found the time to reinstall WordPress, pick a new theme, and get things moving forward again on my site. Thanks for visiting!

What’s another year?
Last month this website was 10 years old, on December 23rd. Still going strong, still growing in unique visitors, still no ads anywhere. Some other stats: 79,9% of you are using Windows as operating system, with Linux taking the second place at 9,2% and Mac users at 3,1%. The rest is ‘unknown’. As for browser choice: Firefox is at 24,6%, Internet Explorer at 22,8%, Chrome at 14,7% Opera at 7,3% and Safari at 2,2%. The ‘unknown’ browser also seems very popular ![]()
Thanks for visiting these pages, I know some of you have been with me since the beginning, thank you!
WordPress 2.9 and K2 1.0
This site runs on the WordPress publishing platform, together with the K2 template. WordPress is what’s going on behind the scenes, and K2 is what you’re actually looking at. WordPress just released 2.9 and K2 is nearing a 1.0 release. The site’s been running on beta and nightly versions of both without problems. So, if you’re still a bit scared to update your site, don’t be. Keep up the good work, WP and K2!
9 years of zzillezz.net
It’s been a rough ride, but I’m still here. Expect more of the same, but better. I would like to thank you all, the loyal readers. All the best in 2009!
8 years of zzillezz.net
It’s been 8 and a half years since I first started this website. From static html pages, over Blogger, to WordPress (since June 2005). The domain name zzillezz.net was registered on December 23rd 2001. I’ve been posting about software that I find interesting. By no means it’s complete, by no means it’s consistent. But I keep trying. Here’s for another couple of years. Thanks to you, the visitor.
To Be Steven Feys Or Not To Be
I don’t understand what writing about open source software has to do with a well-written marketing blog. But then again, I guess the pleasure is in the chase, not the catch. I host websites for a wide range of people: from musicians to performing artists. Does that make me a pyro technician? A singer? I think not. Do I know Bram? Yes, we’ve been to school together. We live in the same city, we exchange links on our websites. Do I host Hanenwürger? Yes I do, I even write for it, under the name “Alesis”. That’s no secret. But am I Steven Feys? I’d like to be. He plays in a different league. He sure knows how to keep the buzz alive. That’s good marketing, folks. Steven Feys seems like the person to stay far away from open source. There’s no money to be made. That being said, I find it rather funny that people keep making the wildest guesses about who is or could be Steven Feys. Either they don’t have a clue, or even better: they’re involved. Feys must be laughing his ass off in his Maserati.
SoulSeek 157 test 10
Two releases in two weeks, very nice! Soulseek is a unique ad-free, spyware free, and just plain free file sharing application. One of the things that makes Soulseek unique is the community-related features. Based on peer-to-peer technology, virtual rooms allow you to meet people with the same interests, share information, and chat freely using real-time messages in public or private. Soulseek, with its built-in people matching system, is a great way to make new friends and expand your mind! Soulseek does not endorse nor condone the sharing of copyrighted materials. You should only share and download files which you are legally allowed to or have otherwise received permission to share.
Please note: The test version connects to a smaller, faster server that is separate from the main server. although there are less people on the test server, the search functionality is much improved and search results often rival those on the main server. additionally, the test client offers numerous optimizations and bug fixes over the release client relating to almost every aspect of functionality. if for any reason you would like to connect to the main server, the release client is available for download below. both test and release clients may be installed and run side by side.
Site news
I’ve upgraded WordPress to version 2.2, and started using those nifty widgets to organize the sidebar. There’s now a calendar, showing the date when a post has been made. Archives can be found at the bottom, in a drop down menu.

I got tired of the previous layout, so here’s a new one! The theme is called Tranquility, and should stay on here for a while. In other news, comments are enabled again! Not that I expect to get much replies from anyone … It would be nice though
I installed the Akismet anti-spam plugin to cope with the 100+ spam comments my WordPress blog was getting daily. Let’s see how this holds up. Happy browsing! If your ISP is Telenet, and connecting to [ zzillezz dot net ] is slow, or almost impossible, please let me know. There have been some weird issues lately.

Time for an update, I thought to myself.
* I’ve installed two WordPress blogs for Zucchini Drive and Hitch. I don’t know if they’ll start using them actively or incorporate them into their sites, we’ll see. Tom from Shadowanimals is working on both of them.
* Mush has made a very nice new template for his Bliip.com forum, worth checking out!
* I’ll be hosting the new Hanenwurger site soon. They are working on converting their Blogger blog to WordPress. They’re going to get a real url too.
* I stopped hosting the Lowres site. They’ve got their own hosting now, and I wish them all the best.
