Bored To Death, new HBO series

Jonathan Ames, a young Brooklyn writer, is feeling lost. He’s just gone through a painful break-up, thanks in part to his drinking, can’t write his second novel, and carouses too much with his magazine editor. Rather than face reality, Jonathan turns instead to his fantasies — moonlighting as a private detective — because he wants to be a hero and a man of action. More information on the HBO website. I just watched Making Bored To Death, haven’t seen the first episode yet, but I liked what I saw!

Television junkie

Sunday nights always seem to be packed with interesting things to watch on television. For what it’s worth, this is my selection for tonight. 1) “Panorama“, Canvas, on cocaine trafficing to Europe. 2) “Ancient Rome: The rise and fall of an empire“, Canvas, on -yes, indeed- Rome. 3) “De zaak Jo Lernout“, Een, on Lernaut & Hauspie director Jo Lernout. And at last something a bit less serious: 4) “CSI Miami“, VT4, with the always funny Horatio Caine. “I’m Horation Caine and this much I know: at CSI Miami we never close.” Three of these programs air at almost the same time, so the Digicorder will have to do it’s work …
