It’s great when software is still around after almost 10 years. Soulseek has been one of my favourite p2p filesharing tools since the very beginning. The original client hasn’t been updated in a long time, but since the last couple of months Nir Arbel, the man behind Soulseek, is working on SoulseekQt, an updated version of this very cool program. It’s available for Windows, Mac and Linux. Check it out and don’t forget to share!

Disable Metro UI Windows 8

Don’t like the Metro UI? Follow these steps: open regedit. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer. Change the value of RPEnabled from “1″ to “0″. Done! To revert, change it back to “1″.

Windows 8 Developer Preview

Microsoft has released a Developer Preview of the upcoming Windows 8 operating system. It can be freely downloaded from here. If you want to read about what’s new, check out Neowin. openSUSE 11.4

Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal alpha 3

Welcome to Natty Narwhal Alpha 3, which will in time become Ubuntu 11.04. Alpha 3 is the third in a series of milestone CD images that will be released throughout the Natty development cycle. I’ve tried Kubuntu 11.04 Alpha 2, and I was impressed. The KDE version was much snappier than Linux Mint’s latest KDE offering.

New packages showing up in this release include:
* LibreOffice 3.3.1
* Unity 3.6.0
* Linux Kernel 2.6.38-rc6.
* Upstart 0.9
* Dpkg 1.16.0-pre + multi-arch snapshot

Opera 11 beta

The best browser just got better. Tab stacking is a new feature for people who have a lot of sites open all of the time. And Opera now has some very cool extensions too. FastestTube is one of my favourites, to easily download YouTube content. Please note that Mac and Linux versions are not availbale yet.

LimeWire Pirate Edition is free, open source software based on the final beta version of the popular LimeWire filesharing application. After Lime Wire LLC stopped distributing its software in October 2010, a horde of piratical monkeys climbed aboard the abandoned ship, mended its sails, polished its cannons and released it FREE to the community to help keep the Gnutella network alive.

LimeWire Pirate Edition is pure P2P software; it does not depend on any servers operated by Lime Wire LLC or other companies. It does not include any adware or spyware, and it cannot be remotely monitored or shut down.
