Opera “O” tab and menu
The new Opera “O” tab and its associated menu (located on the left side of the Opera Tab bar) replaces the traditional Opera Menu bar. This increases vertical space in the Opera desktop window, and centralizes frequently used features and tools in one, convenient location. Optionally, the new Opera “O” tab and menu can be replaced with the traditional Opera Menu bar by clicking “Show Menu Bar” in the Opera “O” menu. This new Opera feature contains the following items.
Tabs and Windows ►
Renders all graphics in Opera
Employs rounded corners, box shadow, animations, etc.
Contains improved support for SVG and the HTML 5 element
Additional Vega information
Opera Widgets for Desktop
Although they run outside the browser, Opera Widgets have been treated as entities inside the browser in many respects. The new Opera Widgets for Desktop ends this dependency on the browser and moves Opera Widgets to the next level: that of first-class applications. Above all, Opera Widgets for Desktop gives widgets the potential to replace some native applications on the computer.

Opera Widgets for Desktop includes the following features:
Support for View Modes through the W3C Widgets Module API:
See: W3C Widgets 1.0: View Modes Media Feature
A Widget menu located within the new Opera “O” menu, or optionally from the traditional Opera Menu toolbar. Menu options include:
Get Widgets
Manage Widgets… (opens the Widgets panel in the Opera user interface)
What are Opera Widgets?
Widget lifespans are separated from the Opera desktop browser.
Each widget runs in a separate process.
Integration with the operating system includes support for creating desktop and menu-based application shortcuts.
Widget control buttons organize important actions:
Move
Close
Minimize
Settings
Support is provided for different widget modes such as “Application” and “Widget”.
A new widget installation/uninstallation process is supported:
Uninstallation from “Add/Remove Programs” in the Windows Control Panel
Notification pop-ups are supported.
Password manager is supported.
File I/O (Input/Output) access is supported.
The upgrading of installed widgets from current to new runtime is supported.
Improved support for Opera Dragonfly is provided.
Remote debugging is possible; configurable via a widget’s context menu.
Download acceleration software compatibility
Support is added for download acceleration software (user option), which integrates a user’s favorite download accelerator with Opera.
Check box activation is located at: opera:config#UserPrefs|UseExternalDownloadManager
Non-modal notification messages
Notification message windows no longer interrupt workflow
JavaScript alerts, HTTP notifications, password manager, etc., now display as page overlays.
Switching of tabs or windows while these dialogs are displayed is now allowed.
Private browsing
Creating, browsing, and then closing private tabs and private windows removes all records of Web sites visited through them.
Using the new Opera “O” tab and menu, go to:
Tabs and Windows > New Private Tab
Tabs and Windows > New Private Window
Using the traditional Opera Menu bar, go to:
File > New Private Tab
File > New Private Window
Web Storage
Support is established for:
Session storage: offers a temporary storage of data
Warning dialogs when exceeding storage quotas for web storage
The user can increase, or set unlimited quotas for web storage
Local storage: stores data for a longer period until the user explicitly clears it
The Address field autocomplete list now includes opera:webstorage
Added a “Delete Web storage databases” check box item in the “Delete private data” detailed options dialog
See: W3C Web Storage Working Draft
Web SQL Database
Support is established for:
Storage of data in a more structured manner
Querying data using SQL
Warning dialogs when exceeding storage quotas for web database
The user can increase, or set unlimited quotas for web database
Added a “Delete Web storage databases” check box item in the “Delete private data” detailed options dialog
The Address field autocomplete list now includes opera:webdatabases
See: W3C Web SQL Database WWorking Draft</feimage></foreignobject>

PeaZip is an open source file and archive manager. Flexibe, portable, secure, and free as in freedom. PeaZip 3.0 was released today, featuring better system integration on Windows, with context menu entries capable of handling multiple input in a single instance of the program, and the capability of re-configuring the system integration (file associations, menu entries) from Options > Settings.
Custom icons are featured for most common archive types (7z, bz2, gz, rar, zip), and for generic archives, split files, packages, and disk images.
“Ask before overwriting” mode in is now available in extraction options. On extraction, the archive is now tested for encryption in a much more faster way, and during operations more information about the job’s progress and speed is shown.

Pidgin can be extended using plugins.

libpurple
Fix ‘make check’ on OS X. (David Fang)
Fix a quirk in purple_markup_html_to_xhtml that caused some messages to be improperly converted to XHTML.
Set “controlling-mode” correctly when initializing a media session. Fixes receiving voice calls from Psi.
When looking up DNS records, use the type of record returned by the server (instead of the type we asked for) to determine how to process the record.
Fix an issue with parsing XML attributes that contain “<br>”. See ChangeLog.API for more details.
General
Correctly disable all missing dependencies when using the –disable-missing-dependencies option. (Gabriel Schulhof)
Gadu-Gadu
Fix display of avatars after a server-side change. (Krzysztof Klinikowski)
AIM
Allow setting and displaying icons between 1×1 and 100×100 pixels. Previously only icons between 48×48 and 50×50 were allowed.
MSN
Fix CVE-2010-0277, a possible remote crash when parsing an incoming SLP message. (Discovered by Fabian Yamaguchi)
File transfer requests will no longer cause a crash if you delete the file before the other side accepts.
Received files will no longer hold an extra lock after completion, meaning they can be moved or deleted without complaints from your OS.
Buddies who sign in from a second location will no longer cause an unnecessary chat window to open.
Support setting an animated GIF as a buddy icon.
Numerous code cleanups and memory savings.
MySpace
Fix a leak and crash when retrieving buddy icons.
XMPP
Less likely to send messages to a contact’s idle/inactive resource. Previously, if a message was received from a specific resource, responses would be sent to that resource until either it went offline or a message is received from another resource. Now, messages are sent to the bare JID upon receipt of any presence change from the contact.
Added support for the SCRAM-SHA-1 SASL mechanism. This is only available when built without Cyrus SASL support.
When getting info on a domain-only (server) JID, show uptime (when given by the result of the “last query”) and don’t show status as offline.
Fix getting info on your own JID.
Wrap XHTML messages in

, as described in XEP-0071, for compatibility with some clients.
Don’t do an SRV lookup for a STUN server associated with the account if one is already set globally in prefs.
Don’t send custom smileys larger than the recommended maximum object size specified in the BoB XEP. This prevents a client from being disconnected by servers that dislike overly-large stanzas.
Fix receiving messages without markup over an Openfire BOSH connection (forcibly put the stanzas in the jabber:client namespace).
The default value for the file transfer proxies is automatically updated when an account connects, if it is still the old (broken) default (from ‘proxy.jabber.org’ to ‘proxy.eu.jabber.org’).
Fix an issue where libpurple created duplicate buddies if the roster contains a buddy in two groups that differ only by case (e.g. “XMPP” and “xmpp”) (or not at all).
Yahoo
Don’t send and tags. (Fartash Faghri)
Support PingBox. PingBoxes will appear as pbx/PingBoxName. (Kartik Mohta)
Pidgin
Fix CVE-2010-0423, a denial of service attack due to the parsing of large numbers of smileys. (Discovered by Antti Hayrynen)
Correctly size conversation and status box entries when the interior-focus style property is diabled. (Gabriel Schulhof)
Correctly handle a multiline text field being required in a request form. (Thanks to Florian Zeitz for finding this problem)
Search friends by email-addresses in the buddy list. (Luoh Ren-Shan)
Allow dropping an image on Custom Smiley window to add a new one.
Prompt for confirmation when clearing a whiteboard (doodle) session. (Kartik Mohta)
Use the “hand” cursor when hovering over usernames in chat history to indicate that the username is an actionable item.
Double-clicking usernames in chat history will open an IM with that user.
Put an icon on the “Filter” button in the debug window.
Don’t treat “/messages/like/this ” as commands.
Explicitly mark user interaction when inserting smilies from the toolbar so “Undo” correctly removes these smilies.
Clicking “New” or “Saved” in the status selector menu while typing a status message no longer keeps the status entry area stuck in “typing” mode forever.
Show tooltips for ellipsized conversation tabs. On older systems, tooltips will show for all tabs.
The File Transfers and Debug Window windows are no longer created as dialogs. These windows should now have minimize buttons in many environments in which they were previously missing (including Windows).
Smiley themes with Windows line endings no longer cause theme descriptions not to be displayed in the theme selector.
Finch
Fix CVE-2010-0420, a possible remote crash when handling chat room buddy names.
Rebindable ‘move-first’ and ‘move-last’ actions for tree widgets. So it is possible to jump to the first or last entry in the buddy list (and other such lists) by pressing home or end key (defaults) respectively.

It features an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. An active and growing online community provides friendly help, tutorials, and plugins.

Changes in Paint.NET version 3.5.3 Beta, build 3685:
Fixed a mismatched file name issue with the File->Save dialog in Win7/Vista, as originally reported here. This issue is still present on XP but cannot be fixed.
Fixed DirectDraw Surface (.DDS) file format support for CPUs which do not have SSE2 (Pentium III, Athlon XP).
Fixed some crashes which were actually supposed to be “out of memory” error dialogs (without a crash!).
Fixed a race condition with the New Image, Resize, and Canvas Size dialogs. If you typed very very fast you could get it to crash by typing a negative value and immediately pressing OK or Enter..
Removed splash screen.
