As you may know or not know, movies get their release on to the internet through release groups. If you browse the movies section of The Pirate Bay for instance, you’ll notice names like DiAMOND, FSG, FLAiTE and so on. Those are the names of the groups who released those movies into the wild (not the people who are spreading it through bittorrent or other p2p). They’re not in it to gain a quick buck, they want to be the first to have a certain movie out, or have a better quality version out than a competing group. The release groups have their own releasing standards, an interesting read if you’re into the technical side of things. But releases can also be nuked if there’s something wrong with them.
