ACDSee 9 Photo Manager

ACDSee is one of those programs that seem to have been around forever. ACDSee is a picture organizer and editor, just like a zillion others. But there’s a difference: the ease-of-use is second to none. While I love XnView, which is free, the user interface can use some work. My most-wanted list in any image organizer: duplicate image finder, batch renamer, image resizer. ACDSee has all three. The big problem with their previous releases: they where way too bloated: it took way too long to start, used too much resources, and was rather buggy from time to time. Now ACDSee 9 Photo Manager is out, and is a big improvement on these three points.

Opera 9.02

Opera is my trusty second choice when it comes to browsing. That’s just how it is. It’s free, fast, and has some very handy features that are not to be found in standard Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. And Opera is from Norway, that fact alone is worth supporting it! Norway with it’s curvy blondes with big b… errm, I’m mistaken with Sweden. Continue reading ‘Opera 9.02′

BitTorrent for Windows 4.22.1

BitTorrent is a protocol for distributing files. It identifies content by URL and is designed to integrate seamlessly with the web. Its advantage over plain HTTP is that when multiple downloads of the same file happen concurrently, the downloaders upload to each other, making it possible for the file source to support very large numbers of downloaders with only a modest increase in its load.

That’s the official talk. We all know why we use BitTorrent :-)

A Lucky cat

Lucky

Véro, my wife, was going to work the other day. She passed a car, and heared the moaning screams of a kitten … coming from under the hood of the parked car. She called 101, they found the owner of the car and he opened the hood. Véro searched the motor block until she found the little kitten in distress. Because the fire brigade told her they could take the kitten away, but it would be euthanised, Véro took the cat with her. And baptised her Lucky :-) Lucky is now living with us at home. Our other two cats, Cezaar and Asteriks, are still a bit afraid of our new member of the family. You can see all of Lucky’s pics here.

I used to know a lot of people

They partied at my house. They spent my money. I drove them around I my car. We had fun. I loved some of them. I helped a lot of them. They got second chances, even third chances. No I don’t ever see them anymore. They stop returning your calls, your text messages. They don’t even say hello anymore when you meet them somewhere. They tell other people stories about you. And I fucking can’t have any of that crap anymore.
Friendship doesn’t come with an on - off switch when it suits you right. So if you’re wondering why I’m rather emotional lately, here it is. I need to know who my friends are, and I’m getting rid of the people that do me wrong. I’ve been hurt and stabbed in the back once too often. To my real friends: I love you longtime (with or without penetration, that depends …) :-)

Onwards and upwards?

As of tomorrow I’m starting off as manager of my own shop. I’m not as excited as I’d like to be. I hate leaving my old colleagues whom I worked with over the past two years. I’m nervous because I want to do it right. Leaving behind something faithful and trustworthy for more responsibility and money doesn’t seem all that attractive at the moment. I’d like to say thanks to everyone at the PH shop in Kortrijk, you know who you are … and you’d better keep in touch :-)
