They make great music, and they’re from Ghent, Belgium: Pitch & Hold. Their track ‘Eris’ is one of my favourite tracks ever, and I just discovered a new remix: King Unique - Yuhkoh (Pitch & Hold Mix). Turn up the volume (if you have decent speakers or headphones) and float away! They’re on CrapSpace, of course. Keep the good music coming!

FrostWire is a free Gnutella client based on LimeWire distributed under terms of the GPL. It was created in September 2005 after LimeWire LLC received a cease and desist letter from the RIAA, threatening to sue them for millions of dollars unless they stop their users from offering copyrighted songs. Unwilling to take the matter to court, LimeWire implemented a filter, preventing its users from sharing audio files that did not contain either a commercial Weed license or a Creative Commonse License. The LimeWire open-source community then decided to create FrostWire, - a free offspring using the publicly available sourcecode from LimeWire to create a Gnutella client that does not filter any content. This project is not affiliated with LimeWire LLC–the official maker of the LimeWire application. The FrostWire project will always remain strictly non-profit and free of any bundled software, including any ads or nags. FrostWire 4.13.1.6 includes Bittorrent support, better search results and faster downloads, along with many UI improvements.

With all the fancy Linux distributions out there, like recent Ubuntu 7.10 and Fedora 8, you’d almost forget that you can use a terminal window and type commands in Linux
The One Page Linux Manual gives a nice overview of the most basic commands. Learn to move files, mount filesystems, change permissions, and print items (among other things) with this short guide that explains each command and describes what it does. This is hot off the press, since it’s been around since 1999 … and it’s in fact two pages instead of one.

VideoLAN is an excellent multimedia player with it’s own plugins for playing different formats, so it doesn’t need any codecs to be installed. It works great for previewing partially downloaded files too as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.
Changelog:
This version is aimed at fixing security vulnerabilities in the Active X plugin and the Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC) library which affect VLC media player 0.8.6c and lower. For more technical details see our ADVISORY. Improvements in this release include better Video Output compatibility on Mac OS X and Apple Remote support on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Please note that Mac OS X 10.3.9 is no longer supported.
I don’t understand what writing about open source software has to do with a well-written marketing blog. But then again, I guess the pleasure is in the chase, not the catch. I host websites for a wide range of people: from musicians to performing artists. Does that make me a pyro technician? A singer? I think not. Do I know Bram? Yes, we’ve been to school together. We live in the same city, we exchange links on our websites. Do I host Hanenwürger? Yes I do, I even write for it, under the name “Alesis”. That’s no secret. But am I Steven Feys? I’d like to be. He plays in a different league. He sure knows how to keep the buzz alive. That’s good marketing, folks. Steven Feys seems like the person to stay far away from open source. There’s no money to be made. That being said, I find it rather funny that people keep making the wildest guesses about who is or could be Steven Feys. Either they don’t have a clue, or even better: they’re involved. Feys must be laughing his ass off in his Maserati.
